This is an entirely student directed project which means that from fundraising and PR, to system design and filtration, these students motivate and support one another to see this project to completion. Throughout the first quarter, the students decided on and delegated various teams, team leaders, and set due dates. Many of them have never dreamed of stepping forward to take the lead on a fundraising effort this large. Some have never touched a wrench but are taking the initiative to research, design, and implement a secondary veggie fuel system. These management and teamwork skills are beneficial to the success of these students, giving them a leg up as they enter college and the job market that lays ahead.
The project that we are undertaking this semester involves finding a 15 passenger short bus, outfitting it with a veggie fuel system, and then using it to transport students to and from sporting events, class trips, and for community outreach.
